OHIP Covered Eye Exams

OHIP provides coverage for routine eye exams and follow-up care for eligible patients, including:

• Children and youth under 19 years of age: One comprehensive eye exam every year, plus unlimited medically necessary follow-up visits.
• Individuals aged 20–64 with certain eligible medical conditions (such as diabetes, glaucoma, cataracts, and other qualifying eye diseases): One comprehensive eye exam every year, plus up to two additional follow-up visits.
• Seniors aged 65 and older: One comprehensive eye exam every 18 months, plus up to two additional follow-up visits.
