MVA Coverage

Recovering from a concussion or motor vehicle accident can be overwhelming, especially when you're experiencing symptoms such as headaches, dizziness, blurred vision, difficulty concentrating, balance issues, or fatigue. At Inspire Vision Development Centre, we provide comprehensive post-concussion and motor vehicle accident (MVA) assessments for patients from Orangeville, Brampton, Caledon, Grand Valley, Shelburne, and surrounding communities. These visual assessments are designed to identify how your visual system and brain are functioning so we can create a personalized treatment plan to support your recovery.

You do not need a referral to schedule a post-concussion or motor vehicle accident (MVA) assessment at Inspire Vision Development Centre.

While referrals from physicians, chiropractors, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, or other healthcare professionals are always welcome and can provide valuable background information, they are not required. We are happy to work directly with you.

Before your appointment, you will be asked to complete an intake form detailing your symptoms, medical history, accident information (if applicable), and current concerns. This information helps our team gain a thorough understanding of your condition and prepare for your motor vehicle accident assessment.

If your vision problems are the result of a motor vehicle accident, your assessment and vision therapy may be covered through your Ontario automobile insurance benefits. MVA coverage is designed to help pay for medically necessary rehabilitation services following an accident, including treatment for vision-related symptoms caused by a concussion or other injuries.

Motor Vehicle Accident coverage is determined by your diagnosis, the treatment recommended by our optometrist, your Ontario automobile insurance policy, and approval from your insurance company. Once your treatment plan has been submitted, your insurance adjuster will review the proposed care to determine the approved funding.

At Inspire Vision Development Centre, we work directly with insurance adjusters, case managers, lawyers, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to submit treatment plans, provide clinical reports, and manage the required documentation throughout your rehabilitation.

If your assessment is related to a motor vehicle accident, our vision team will prepare a proposed assessment and treatment plan based on your intake forms, accident information, and any supporting medical documentation.

We submit your proposed treatment plan directly to your automobile insurance adjuster for approval. Insurance companies generally have 10 business days to review the request and determine whether funding will be approved.

Once authorization has been received, our eye care team will contact you to schedule your comprehensive post-concussion or MVA assessment. Throughout the approval process, we handle the required paperwork, direct billing, and communication with your insurance company, making the experience as seamless as possible for you.

Our vision therapy programs are designed to strengthen visual skills and help patients use both eyes together more effectively.

Your assessment typically lasts approximately two hours and is divided into two parts.

Vision & Perceptual Assessment
The first hour is completed with one of our Vision Therapists and focuses on evaluating how your visual system and brain are working together.

Following a concussion, vision problems are often much more than blurry eyesight. The brain relies on vision for balance, movement, reading, attention, memory, and processing information. Even subtle disruptions can have a significant impact on everyday activities.

During this portion of the assessment, we perform a variety of perceptual and functional vision tests that may evaluate:​​​​​​​
